Getting ISO certified in your industry is becoming more and more critical as the competitive landscape tightens. Maintaining a competitive advantage over your competitors is crucial to not only surviving but to prosper in these economic times. Becoming certified in your industry to relevant international standards should be an affordable investment and most importantly provide a positive Return on Investment. This could be in the form of successful tender bids, increased orders, reduced costs, improved efficiency ect., the list goes on

ISO Benefits

There are numerous advantages of implementing an ISO 9001 Quality Management System. Some of the benefits are listed below: Well defined and documented procedures improve the consistency of output.

  • Quality is constantly measured.
  • Procedures ensure corrective action is taken whenever defects occur.
  • Defect rates decrease.
  • Defects are caught earlier and are corrected at a lower cost.
  • Defining procedures identifies current practices that are obsolete or inefficient.
  • Documented procedures are easier for new employees to follow.
  • Organizations retain or increase market share, increasing sales or revenues.
  • Creates a more efficient, effective operation
  • Increased customer satisfaction and retention
  • Enhanced marketing
  • Improved employee motivation, awareness, and morale.
  • Increases profit.
  • Reduce waste and increases productivity.

This is nothing new. However, we believe the real value lies in the mind shift of the people in the organization, starting from the top (management), and filtering through to everyone in the company. The fact that you have invested time and money is also important. Just like you are more likely to work out at a gym if you've paid for a membership than doing push ups or sit ups at home! Being certified to ISO 9001 will initially involve more work, but once the system is up and running and management leads by example, instigating a culture where quality is entrenched, it will be just like brushing your teeth and really showing it's true value.

Introducing the CNEL System

The ideal situation for a Quality Manager or a Management Representative is to focus on extracting the value out of the QMS, not filling in forms, and looking at organized data to make better decisions, not actually collating the data. Chrisnel Consultants have a state of the art system. It is called the CNEL system and is fully automated paperless Management System. The key that many people are starting to realize is that CNEL is not only great as a software development tool, but it can be used for any business process that involves a workflow. The two over-riding wow factors, are the cost and it's simplicity to set up and use as all these documents are written in excell based systems. Click here to see a sample quality dashboard you could be viewing

Management Dashboard

If you are a quality manager, the dashboard below is what you want to see every morning when you arrive at work. The dashboard allows you to keep on top of your issues and tasks where the data is "live" as you can specify the automatic refresh interval. Because we like to practice what we preach, or eat our own dog food as some like to put it, we also use CNEL to manage our own quality processes.
What you can see below is an internal audit schedule on the top left. These issues have been "booked" in so we know when the next internal audit is. On the top right, is a Corrective Action Request (CAR) register. CAR's are created by anyone in your company when there is an incident that needs to be reported. So as a quality manager, it is important that you are aware of how many CAR's have been created, how many have been resolved, outstanding, the priority, who they are assigned to and what the next action is. Beneath is a pie chart of the CAR register based on the reporter. This could be changed to view the status, priority, resolution, department or what ever custom field you have.
In addition to the data being live, you can also receive email subscriptions to your inbox setting filters to show you issues that are due in the next 7 days, over due issues, or issues that are due tomorrow and assigned to a particular staff member. The flexibility is there without the complexity. a default workflow out of the box and the ability to create any workflow required that reflects how your business works

Our Process

Regardless of the type of certification you are after, the steps involved when your business works with Chrisnel Consultants are:

  1. Requirements Analysis/Business Review.
The first step before starting any project is to understand the requirements. This is usually done over the phone or via email.
  2. Gap Analysis.
The second step is to understand what the current situation is. You could be wanting to get ISO certification from scratch, maybe you have existing documentation here and there but nothing formal, or maybe you have certification, but are at risk of losing it because your documentations/records are not up to scratch. A Gap Analysis is carried out to determine your business maturity and readiness for ISO certification through an action plan to ensure all requirements are met.
  3. Training/Document Review or Development/Implementation.
The third step is to roll up our sleeves and provide ISO awareness training, review and/or develop the documentation, and if required, assist in the implementation of the system as well.
  4. Ongoing Support
The final step is ongoing support to ensure not only the implementation is successful, but that ISO certification is achieved, ir required.
